Goodbye Damaged Frizzy Hair
How To Avoid & Repair your Damaged Frizzy Hair- Yes, it’s possible without cutting all your hair off!
Today more than ever there are products available that can help you overcome your damaged and frizzy hair. But, it’s not just the products you use that can be contributing to your damage and frizzies! In many cases frizzy hair is simply due to your hair routine, or lack thereof.
To help prevent & reverse damage to your hair, here are a few simple things you can do starting right now that will help you achieve healthier hair and less frizz!
1. Start with your SHAMPOO. Some shampoos are just not that good for your hair, no matter what the commercials say. Get into the habit of looking at the back of your shampoo bottle and reading the ingredients. If your shampoo has sulfates in it, keep looking. Sulfates will dry your hair and can cause damage! Sulfates + hair = damage! Damaged hair is always more prone to frizz.
Other ingredients to avoid are silicones, parabens, petroleum, phthalates, DEA/MEA, and Phenoxyethanol.
For severely damaged hair, I recommend a pre-wash conditioner that is used before your lshampoo. A pre-wash conditioner will protect your strands from any damaging friction to your already vulnerable hair.
2. To undo some of the damage your hair may have already endured, (and in turn help the frizzies!) deep condition your hair with a hair masque weekly! Providing your hair with a deep penetrating hydration will help give your hair back the right amount of moisture it needs. Damaged hair is usually lacking hydration causing dry frizzy hair. Luckily, this is fixable with a good hair masque!
3. How you physically treat your hair is just as important. When you step out of the shower, do not "rub down" your hair. Gently pat your hair dry, preferably with a microfiber towel. Rubbing your hair vigorously can cause breakage. This breakage will ultimately lead to frizz.
4. Use a wide tooth comb or a wet brush when your hair is wet. Brushing wet hair with the wrong type of hair brush can damage and break your hair.
5. Avoid tangled hair by using a detangler before combing. Brushing through tangles will rip your hair. Invest in a good detangler treatment if you are prone to tangled hair. This is especially a great step for those with curls or damaged hair.
5. Get trims frequently. Trimming off the damaged ends of your hair will lessen the damaged parts or potential for damage, in turn will lessen the amount of frizz you get. If you cannot get to the salon, use a hair product that helps protect your hair from further split ends and damage.
6. Always use a thermal hair protector when using heat tools. Even if you are using the tools on the lowest setting, even minimal amount of heat on unprotected hair can cause damage,
You don't have to be sentenced to life of damaged frizzy hair. Invest in your hair, invest in you! Healthy hair is achievable with the right products and simple day-to-day changes.
